Years at UNK ITS: 3 years full time, 6 years if you count as a student worker
Areas of ITS responsibility: Support all non-academic departments, one primary responsibility is anything student related, whether it is WiFi changes, cable issues, or speaking to them at NSE and when school begins. Manage all Email Bars, Pharos Stations, and Microsoft DreamSpark Program for students and faculty.
Tell us about the journey that led you to IT: I just kind of knew I wanted to do something in the IT world growing up, I loved playing with computers and taking them apart when I was younger and built my first one sometime in junior high, I proceeded to pursue IT by getting an MIS degree from UNK. I did my internship with the City of Kearney and also worked here in ITS at the same time and now full time.
If you could abolish one piece of modern technology, what would it be and why? DSL Internet, it is the 21st Century, no one should have slow internet speeds (Parents only option back home and only get 2MBs download and .5MBs upload for an outrageous price)
Do you prefer Windows or Mac? Why? This is the easiest question on this sheet! Windows!
Do you prefer white, dark or milk chocolate? All chocolate is good
Do you have any hobbies? Golf, riding my motorcycle, video games, slow pitch softball
What was your favorite TV show growing up? I really didn’t watch a whole lot of TV growing up
What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends? Depends on the time of the year! Summer time, I’m usually out golfing or fishing, winter time, usually sit inside and watch football all weekend.
What was (or is) your favorite video game? This is a tough one to answer, so many growing up, and also still some to this day. Right now, Destiny
What is one professional or personal skill you wish you had that you don’t? A good singing voice! Love and listen to music all the time.
What do you like on your pizza? No veggies! They just ruin a good pizza.
Favorite Sports Teams: Growing up in Nebraska, Huskers of course and also a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Vikings fan. I’ve made it out to LA to see a Lakers game and in the upcoming year want to make it up to Minneapolis to go to a Vikings game in their new stadium.
